WooHoo!
WooHoo!
It's officially official! A Dog's Breakfast" - the puppy we've all be hard at work screening, marketing and promoting, not to mention turning into an Internet sensation, is out of the pound and bounding around online!

A Dog's Breakfast is now available for downloading from either Amazon Unbox or Apple's iTunes. This is one of the first times that I'm aware of that a feature film has been exclusively premiered on the Web (except, of course you lucky few who saw one of our sneaky screenings!) before it’s been made available on DVD (which you can Pre-order from Amazon of course!). Not sure if you can tell or not, but we’re really excited about all this!

Since we're a Mac house here, we're out of luck on the unbox, but Jane and I were sent our own copies of “A Dog’s Breakfast” from Glen at iTune movies… which is just about the best way to start to the day! Thanks for that Glen! The film downloads in about 25 minutes (cable modem) and it looks amazing! There's also a much higher quality version of the trailer on the A Dog's Breakfast iTunes movie page which is sweet indeed! Keep in mind that you don't have to have a video iPod to see this thing...in fact I actually prefer just to watch my iTunes downloads on the computer.

Oh we’re such International Puppies!

We are on track for an international release (Yay!) in the first quarter of 2008 (now I sound like a movie studio!). I’m sorry that we’ve got nothing else available for you until then, but just know that we’re working on it, it’s on the books and it’s going to happen!

The 3 R’s – Rate, Review & Recommend

Marketing time little squirrels! Firstly PLEASE let everyone, you know, know about the film and how they can get it! We also need to make sure that A Dog’s Breakfast gets Rated, Reviewed and Recommended (billions of times, no less) anywhere it can be on the web. PLEASE make iTunes, Amazon.com and Imdb.com a priority as this will really help getting the word out!

The ADB Film Club?

Jane and I are contemplating some kind of an Internet simulcast of A Dog’s Breakfast. We’ll have to set a date and a time, and we’ll makes sure you’ll have plenty of time to download and watch the movie beforehand. That way you’ll have been able to get your questions and comments ready for the “iScreening”. At the appointed time (now I sound like a bible!) we’ll all start playing the movie together and chatting about it online. Not sure what the best way logistically to do this is…perhaps Twitter? We’ll need to work out the details, but I think this would be a great way of sharing the “A Dog’s Breakfast” experience with family and friends online. That and all you forward thinking web-puppies that download and watch the movie get rewarded for your geeky ways…sound like fun? We’ll keep you posted!

:grin I know that you are super fair, but a sun burn from a sparkeler...you need some sun screen.

In the processes of downloading the movie now from itunes. Can't wait to watch it tonight. My kitties attach the TV when they see dogs, we will have to see what they think of Mars.

HEHEHE I just downloaded it and watched it - twice!!! YAY!!!!!
Best thing to do....
Written by Mrs. A on 2007-07-06 10:36:44
Best thing to do is not to suggest the dvd to friends and family but to give it to them as a gift. Works as a birthday, christmas and so on. Word of mouth marketing works best with more mouths. Thats what us Browncoats did for Serenity and it worked great.
All This is Great But .....
Written by amararti on 2007-07-06 01:29:11
.... UK based therefore no iTunes download possible, and
.... Mac based therefore no Amazon download possible, *sob*
..... I am pleased for everyone that is able to download and watch the movie now esp. those who are seeing it for the first time but *sob* again, my only consolation it the thought of the massive jump in popularity the international release, and presumably the associated international iTunes release, will give to ADB in Spring 2008 ....
However, *sob* once more .....

hey that's awesome! but i have questions. will there be any extras on the ADB dvd? cause if there are i need to wait for the dvd release as i can't afford buying it in itunes and the dvd. which sucks cause i've been curious about ADB since i saw the trailer a few months ago.

a twitter simulcast would be wonderful.
woot.. an internet simulcast
Written by sinister_mosquito on 2007-07-04 17:15:48
that is a truly awesome idea! David, how did you get so awesome?! :) ;)
Written by surfous on 2007-07-04 16:33:02
I'm downloading from iTunes as we speak - can't wait to see what you've cooked up. Congrats on the positive reception the film is getting!

Definitely count me in on an internet screening - I'll keep my eyesfor details!
UnBox and TiVo
Written by Linz on 2007-07-04 15:41:29
If you have a TiVo and sync it with Amazon online (that is if the TiVo is hooked up to your network) you can download the UnBox movies directly to your TiVo! This is a great thing for another fellow MacHouse and hopefully anyone else out there with TiVo can do it! Apparently you just have to go through the TiVo website and then it takes you to the Amazon site and it syncs it. :grin
Featured Twitter Twit!

Hey Mister Big Shot Movie Director Guy - you're 'featured' on the Twitter Public Timeline! www.twitter.com :grin
Written by MdGateFan on 2007-07-04 11:47:23
Yea on the film available via iTunes. Like you I am a Mac user (I was going to say Mac Girl, but then I realized how that sounded) so Amazon UnBox was out for me. Congrats on the film being in the banner... Now even people who are fans of Stargate will get a chance to at least know about a great little film.

I agree with you on watching videos on the computer instead of a Video iPod. The iPod is great and has a lot of uses, but as a video player - not so much.

A simulcast sounds like a great idea.

Cool beans! I'm not the world's biggest fan of I-Tunes, but I will make the exception for ADB.
ADB download
Written by crownglass39 on 2007-07-04 10:40:37
You might want to throw out a "heads up" to your readers. If you run Windows Vista, (piece of doggie doo that it is) and download ADB, it won't run. I'm pretty sure it's a Vista thing and not an iTunes thing, but in either case you wind up with something you can only watch for 17 seconds before the computer locks up.

Good thing I pre-ordered the real dvd.
Written by tzigane on 2007-07-04 09:55:15
Oh, that's fantastic! As a Mac user, I was feeling sullen that amazon does not love me, and while it's not a Mac-only household... Well. Okay, yes, I probably would have bullied someone else off of their PC so that I could watch, but still

Also, the fact that you guys are Mac users really makes me squeal like the Mac fangirl that I am. I just can't help myself. Nothing less could have brought me to actually post, I confess.

wow thats brill!
lucky for me i have a multi-region dvd player, so even though i live in the uk, i can still get it in september!

is the i-tunes download available for all or just the US?

and about the online simulcast viewing, i agree with logicSequence about using an IRC chat, thats what sanctuaryforall has on their fans site. They use it for interviews with the cast, and its really easy to use once its been set up.

cant wait to here more!

Great news David on the downloads. :grin :grin

As a Canadian it just strikes me as odd that a movie shot in Canada with Canada writers and actors and producers is only available for download in the US. ;) I just hope we are not considered international. I would hate to have to wait until 2008 for my copy. :roll

Can't wait to see it!!!!!!

Yay, well done.

*sighs*

I hate being in the UK and unable to download it. Guess I'm still stuck waiting and waiting for the international release news.

*curls up in a corner*

Helen :cry
You seem to be excited about something..
Written by Squonk on 2007-07-04 03:43:24
Wonder what that could be. :p

That's really good news. Especially about the international release! 2008 y'say? Okaaaaaaaaaaaaay, i can be patient.....

I hope international does mean international though, i know our Australian and NZ cousins are nervous they'll be left out as they always seem to be with DVD releases.

Now the dilemna is do i get boyfy to buy the region 1 version for me AND get the region 2 when it's available.....or wait for the region 2.........
Hurray (as long as you're in the US)
Written by Histrel on 2007-07-04 03:22:30
So glad you're getting lots of positives for this David. Can't wait to see it!

Before I go and visit iTunes (which I avoid on principle) anyone tell me if you can download this to the UK or is iTunes like Amazon.com and US customers only??
Written by Zerocool on 2007-07-04 03:10:28
exciting stuff! I hope you can pick a time to suit everyone for the simu-cast.
Fingers crossed you pick a weekend I'm not working. Work PC's are very limiting! There's always a sick day I guess ;)
Just for you, Mr. Hewlett
Written by cinderlily on 2007-07-04 02:48:39
I have to say, as general on principle I refuse to buy things off of iTunes. (I like having the DVD in my hands, I am weird like that.) That being said, I am now the proud owner of, and I will be watching it later. I have been watching forever to see this movie, I will just own to copies.

Twenty minutes and counting! WOO! Who needs sleep? ;)
IRC CHAT FOR THE SIMULCAST
Written by LogicSequence on 2007-07-04 01:40:39
David, for the Online simulcast viewing you talked about in twitter, i'd recommend setting up an IRC chat room channel for everyone to join. That way all the chatting would be instant. Thus you could respond to questions and what not. You can also be the moderator, which would give you the authority to send unruly souls packing, or limit the chatting and what not. And there are literally hundreds of different programs that can access IRC chats, so no one would be stuck with using one particular piece of software. Just a thought.
WOOHOO!
Written by LogicSequence on 2007-07-04 01:37:59
Great news! Going to go download myself a copy now. You're getting 2 DVDs and a download from me! You guys are gonna rake in the doggy dough!
Written by catslyn on 2007-07-04 00:54:57
Crud. I don't have XP, so unbox isn't working and I already bought the download. :cry

Any suggestions?????

Congrats David and Jane!

It's so cool to see it on Itunes! Would love to leave a comment there - but its restricted to US only! Though there are many other sites.

Done, done and done
Written by zwild1 on 2007-07-03 22:28:07
Like a good little squirrel I downloaded from Amazon Unbox, pre-ordered the DVD and am off to itunes to download also. Oh, by the way, I think the movie is absolutely fantabulous(is that a word?) and have left my review in many places including my new blog; www.randomlyinreview.blogspot.com. I also have youtube clips saved to the blog as one of my most favorite movies.

*waiting for my next assignment*
Fantastic!

I am downloading it right now! At least I think I am. Amazon isn't the most cooperative... :)

Cheers!

You're twittering for genius ideas on the simulcast. I'm offering my opinion, anyway.

The way you've outlined above seems simple. We watch ADB beforehand. We have a place to ask questions before hand - send them in to avoid spoilers? Or, have a thread here on dgeek with major spoiler warnings? You select questions and create answers before hand. We have a set time to view. We're all set up in an insane chat room, where you post questions and answers and we do as we do and shout at you while laughing at each other. The chat room pace will be insane and we'll need mods, but it would be rather like a screening, you'll just be able to see what we're all saying before, during, and after the movie. Simple, but for the chat room logistics on your end. We chat all the time. :-)

And, seriously... the online radio interview you did the other day? That was fun. You twittered before and after. We got to listen to it live. And, there was also a chat going on at the time where fans got to put forth questions to you through the station. Behind the scenes we all squee'd at each other because... oooh... DH was live!

Um... Done. :-)
Written by SeiyaTheLeaper on 2007-07-03 20:55:10
Yay for the "international release" news! :-)
But not twitter, please! :-) There's so many ways to chat on the internet!
Great for everyone!
Written by Delka on 2007-07-03 20:31:43
Congrats! Very nice!

And of course I am spreading the word (like a good little squirrel I am). Slightly considering getting it off itunes but not 100% sure (though I have preordered the DVD's!)
As for a possible "Internet simulcast"-well that definately be worth calling in to work sick-if need be!
Me, the marketing hound
Written by Aten on 2007-07-03 20:03:32
Ever since I saw this movie I've been raving about it, and now I have something to tell the people I rave to (or rather at, in most cases). What I really want to happen is getting the internet download version of the film for my family so they can finally see it (seriously, they don't get breaks unless I'm out of the house, which is rare) and when I'm off at school come September I'll obtain the DVD for myself, having seen the film once already. This way I can also start work on my...wait, now it's my turn to keep something under wraps. I'll just say that I'm making a little...something for everyone. :grin

Congratulations on the download release, David. I pre ordered mine from Amazon, so I'm content to wait until it arrives. I could download it, but that would mean going to iTunes, which I gave up when I switched from Windows to Linux.
Reviewed and dl-ing!
Written by fishbaum on 2007-07-03 18:04:19
I'm downloading now, and submitted a review at iTunes -- tried to sound cool and professional, not so much like a rabid squirrel. ;) Gonna burn it to a dvd so I can watch it on the train to San Diego in late July!
Downloading right now!!
Written by drldeboer on 2007-07-03 17:56:08
getting it from iTunes, also have the DVD on preorder. Yup a double dip!!

I've got a houseful of people for the Independence Day holiday that I've been bragging to about this movie, tonight is "The Nite That Tells the Tail"!!! Thx SO MUCH for getting this to the downloadable services David!!!!!
Non-Americans?
Written by Lyah on 2007-07-03 17:49:57
Any chance there will be a download for us non-americans? I was really excited about today (not just because its my 19th today) but when I came online and found out both were for americans only it just totally sucked. I'd love to share the movie with my family and friends (which I was planning to do at my b-day party) but I can't, oh well, there is always september.
News.... *g*

Bought and now watching on the 40" connected to PC. iTunes is not just for the small screen Looking good.

As for the simulcast, with twitter you would be clogging up the subscribers who were not watching. IRC or Skype are graet for chat - but what would be really good would be a livecast using something like ustream..which comes with a chat room. We could watch you watching it and commenting live and all join in via the chat
I think we broke iTunes
Written by rosiewook on 2007-07-03 17:32:35
The iTunes server keeps timing out when it tries to go to your web page. I had to post a review by going through the iTunes software.

Um. I think we broke something, again.

I also posted a story on Club Jade for you. (http://www.clubjade.net/archives/003445.html) We only get a few thousand hits, but every little bit helps, right?

So exicited.
I unfortunatly do not own a video ipod so i'm going to be faithfully waiting until my pre-ordered copy is shipped to me. Estimated by amazon.com to arrive around Oct 11. Seems so far away, I know the time will fly by.
Can't wait.

I'm thrilled for you guys!

As for a simulcast, um simul-watching? Count me in!

I will selfishly ask for a weekend. I have no clue about chat rooms, but it should be something fairly easy for everyone to get into.

I know. Way to state the obvious. But I think this would be the next best thing to getting to go to one of your screenings.

Okay. Off to do the way overdue reviews.

Congrats, David and Jane!
